This blog does not do a very good job and drawing readers in. The bland and standard format of the website has dull colors and format that does not match the upbeat tone of the topic. Majority of the photos are of audience members and not the festival itself which is disinteresting. The format of the blog is attractive such as font and spacing. There are links to listen to songs of featured artists at the festival. The blog demonstrated clear organization of the topics and subtopics which makes it clear and easy to navigate. Also, because NPR is such a big site with lots of different content there are links linking to related articles that might be of interest to the reader.
The website does have one pop up on the left side of the screen but they are just photos, not videos, so they are not as distracting as others I have seen. The topic of the interviews with audience members weren’t very beneficial for readers interested in attending the festival because it doesn’t talk about what to do at the festival just what happened in previous years. Also, the blog has not been posted on since 2013 but dates back to 2010. More updated information on the festival would be more useful to readers.
Initially, the banner at the top of the blog definitely draws viewers into the post along with the headline. All of the pictures are very professional and display vibrant color and content that relates with her writing. The blog is laid out in a clear way with a header, titles, and subtitles to display clear topics. Subheaders can allow the reader to jump around to different topics without reading the entire thing.
The paragraphs are not too intimidating for the reader which would make them more inclined to view it. The blog is pushing to have borderline clutter, with all the photos additional advertisements would have been a complete distraction. This blog does a great job at giving an understanding of the festival. The author discusses topics such as food, crafts, culture, and music which are the most important aspects of the festival. The author of the blog writes about music travel all over the world! The posts give good insight into what to expects at each festival by giving tips for ranges of people who can be either more conservative or adventurous.
